In
2022 Urs Muller is once again the Alfa Romeo Twin Spark Cup
Champion here in Australia, adding to his 2020 Cup. Urs
had already wrapped up the Cup by the time the last round came around,
having already amassed his extraordinary final points tally of 465.6
by Round 8. The maximum possible point-score is 480 so clearly Urs put
nerry a foot, hand, spanner or wheel wrong all season. He even gave
everyone a one-round head start when he missed the season opener at
Wakefield in February and still beat us all.
Impressively,
another three drivers also beat 400 points this season with Andrew
Wilson coming second with 439 and brother Brad Wilson with a haul of
415.6 in third place. Last year's champion Peter Tillett managed 401,
and although that tally would have won the championship in 2021, it
didn't even get him on the final podium this year such is the increase
in intensity of competition at the pointy end this year.
